In 2024, we opened our doors to share our approach to performance development through the program "The Athlete". The program is based on several years of experience and knowledge from Glimt and other organizations.

The program is led by Bjørn Mannsverk and Gunn Elisabeth Håbjørg, in collaboration with FK Bodø/Glimt. Bjørn has been closely involved in the development of the A-team since 2017, while Gunn Elisabeth has worked with leadership and team development in the club since 2022. Joining Bjørn and Gunn Elisabeth are speaker and mental trainer Barbro Sætha and physiotherapist and attention trainer in Glimt, Tore Jørgen Bjørkli. Participants also gain insights from key figures in Glimt, including CEO Frode Thomassen.

The 3rd cohort of "The Performer" starts on April 27, 2025. New participants who are curious, desire development, and increased performance ability are welcome!

Positive experiences so far

"Structured gatherings, followed by one-on-one conversations, have given me valuable insights and an arena for reflection on my own development. This has made me perform better and more often - with less effort," says performer Johan A. Løvold (Production Manager at Selsøyvik Havbruk), a participant from cohort 1 that began in December 2024.

Participants also receive, like the players in Glimt's A-team, an introduction to attention training, both theory and practice. Siv Hamre Arntzen (COO at Seema) from cohort 2 highlights the value of the practical approach: "I've tried attention training before, but this program manages to take attention training to a new level and clearly link it to how it enables better performance in various arenas. It's applicable in everyday life. I'm already noticing the effect - it happened quickly. In a hectic everyday life with young children, a demanding job, too many digital coordination platforms, and where the focus is quickly pulled in all directions and distractions are many, I've found the attention training incredibly effective. The training has given a real value in relation to performance, which I really like. I recommend this program to everyone."

Universal principles

Although the program has its origins in the sports world, the principles are universal. "The Performer" is relevant for anyone who wants to improve their performance over time, regardless of field of interest, age, and profession.

As Bjørn Mannsverk points out: "We don't believe in mental miracles - change is achieved through action and individual work."

Gunn Elisabeth Håbjørg elaborates: "Our main goal is twofold: To improve the participant's performance and optimize their personal development. To achieve this, we always start by building a solid foundation - what we call the participant's power to carry. This is essential because it gives the participant strength and stability to handle challenges and growth. Only when this foundation is in place we can focus on personal growth and performance optimization. This is a demanding program. The participant is the performer and must take responsibility for their own development. Our role, as coaches, is to provide them with the tools, support, and guidance they need to succeed. We are here to support them throughout the process, but it is the participant who must do the work and take the necessary steps to achieve their goals".

"Are you ready to take the step towards better performance?

"The Performer" is a six-month program designed to strengthen the participant's mental health, capacity, and performance ability. The program includes:

  • Thorough introduction to mental training and practical tools through physical and digital gatherings.

  • Knowledge about the Glimt's work with performances and culture building.

  • Personal follow-up through one-on-one conversations.

  • Systematic training over time for lasting changes and practical exercises for everyday integration.

  • Follow-up conversation three months after program completion.
